Itinerary

DAY 1 | MEXICALI – SAN FELIPE | 197 KM
From the desert dunes to the Sea of Cortez
Route: Mexicali → Las Almejas Beach → San Felipe Boardwalk
Key Highlights: Sand dunes, Gulf of California coastline
Terrain: Compact sand, coastal trails

The roar of engines signals the start of this epic expedition. We launch from Mexicali, tearing through sandy trails and fast desert tracks, the perfect warm-up for what’s to come.
Our first taste of the Sea of Cortez awaits at Las Almejas Beach, where golden dunes meet deep blue waters. The day ends at San Felipe, where we refuel with Baja’s famous hospitality and enjoy the stunning sunset from the lively boardwalk.

Speed, history, and natural wonders in the heart of Baja

  •  Route: San Felipe → Chenowth Museum → Puertecitos → Hot Springs → Playa La Costilla → Bahía de Los Ángeles Viewpoint
  •  Key Highlights: Natural hot springs, legendary off-road history, panoramic coastal views
  • Terrain: Coastal roads, dirt tracks

Today, we pick up the pace as we carve through Baja’s remote coastlines. A must-stop is the Chenowth Museum, where the history of Baja off-road racing comes to life.

A short detour leads us to Puertecitos, where natural hot springs bubble right next to the sea—an unexpected oasis in this rugged landscape. We finish the day at the Bahía de Los Ángeles Viewpoint, where the vastness of the ocean reminds us of just how small we are against the raw power of nature.

From the coast to the desert: an epic transition
Route: Bahía de Los Ángeles → Rancho Maravilla → Los Amargos Salt Flats → San Ignacio

Key Highlights: Remote ranchlands, endless salt flats, desert oasis
Terrain: Fast dirt tracks, deep sand sections
We leave the coastline behind and dive deep into Baja’s harsh desert landscapes. The ride takes us past Rancho Maravilla, a remote settlement where the traditions of Baja’s ranchers remain untouched by time.

The day’s most surreal stop is the Los Amargos Salt Flats—a blinding white expanse where the sky seems to stretch endlessly. Finally, we arrive in San Ignacio, a true oasis where palm trees and freshwater lagoons break the monotony of the desert.

Oasis, turquoise waters, and Baja’s coastal paradise
Route: San Ignacio → Santispac Beach → El Burro Beach → Loreto
Key Highlights: Remote beaches, stunning coastal highways
Terrain: Paved roads with breathtaking sea views

Today, we ride along some of Baja’s most pristine coastlines. The Bahía Concepción beaches are a dream: El Burro, Santispac, El Coyote, and El Requesón, each one more stunning than the last.

We arrive in Loreto, the first capital of the Californias, where the mix of colonial history, laid-back vibes, and vibrant ocean life makes for the perfect overnight stop.

Mountains, beaches, and the heart of Baja Sur

  • Route: Loreto → Frida Viewpoint → Balandra Beach → Espíritu Santo Island
  • Key Highlights: Jaw-dropping coastal views, Baja’s most iconic beach

From the heights of Frida Viewpoint, we descend towards one of Baja’s most famous natural wonders: Balandra Beach, where shallow turquoise waters create an otherworldly landscape.

For those craving one last adventure, a boat ride to Espíritu Santo Island reveals secluded beaches and untouched marine life—a reminder of Baja’s raw beauty.

The grand finale at the tip of the Baja Peninsula

  • Route: La Paz → Punta Lobos → El Arco de Cabo San Lucas
  • Key Highlights: Legendary surf beaches, the Baja’s ultimate landmark

The final stretch is short but spectacular. We pass surf meccas like Cerritos Beach and Todos Santos, before reaching the finish line at El Arco de Cabo San Lucas, the ultimate symbol of this legendary ride.

This is it. The Baja 1000 dream, conquered.
