Racing the Sonora Rally 2026:

PUERTO PEƑASCO – PUERTO LIBERTAD
2 HR 16 MIN DRIVE
217 KM

All American Rally Raid opened Sonora Rally 2026 with a strong performance on Stage 1 from Puerto PeƱasco to Puerto Libertad, the first of five demanding legs that will cover roughly 1,450 km across northern Mexico. As North America’s only official Road to Dakar qualifier, this year’s route once again showcases fast coastal tracks, rocky plains and the first hints of the Altar Desert’s dunes.

In the Moto category, Ciaran Naran topped the day ahead of Mike Johnson and Kyle McKoy, with AARR‑supported rider Ryan Narino bringing his rally bike home 4th overall after a consistent run through the 200‑plus kilometer special. His result keeps him firmly in contention as the rally turns south toward Caborca and deeper navigation challenges in the stages to come.

We’re proud to congratulate Ryan for his impressive opening‑day ride and to stand behind him as he continues his push through the Sonoran desert this week. Follow along as we share daily updates, insights from the bivouac, and what it really takes to chase a Dakar dream, one stage at a time.

Day 2 the Sonora Rally 2026:

PUERTO PEƑASCO – PUERTO LIBERTAD
2 HR 16 MIN DRIVE
217 KM

Stage 2 of Sonora Rally 2026 took the bivouac from Puerto Libertad to Caborca, adding another long day of fast pistes, hidden dangers and roadbook traps to this five‑day, 1,450 km desert challenge. As the only Dakar‑style rally raid in North America and an official Road to Dakar qualifier, every special here is an important test of speed, navigation and consistency for riders chasing their future in rally.

In the Moto category, Mike Johnson claimed the day’s win ahead of Ciaran Naran and Kyle McCoy, while AARR‑supported rider Ryan Narino delivered another solid result with 7th place in the Pro class. After his 4th overall on Stage 1, Ryan’s measured pace and clean run on today’s special keep him well in the fight as the rally points toward La Salina and the longest stages of the week.

We’re proud to congratulate Ryan for his impressive opening‑day ride and to stand behind him as he continues his push through the Sonoran desert this week. Follow along as we share daily updates, insights from the bivouac, and what it really takes to chase a Dakar dream, one stage at a time.

Day 3 the Sonora Rally 2026:

PUERTO PEƑASCO – PUERTO LIBERTAD
2 HR 16 MIN DRIVE
217 KM

Stage 3 of Sonora Rally 2026 pushed the bivouac from Caborca toward La Salina over the longest leg of the event, with racers tackling more than 370 km of mixed terrain on the Road to Dakar in northern Mexico. In Pro Class, Adolfo Alonso set the pace ahead of Mike Johnson and Ciaran Naran, with Kyle McCoy 4th, AARR‑supported rider Ryan Narino 5th, and Armando Alonso rounding out the top six.

For Ryan, it was a day that perfectly captured the fine margins of rally navigation. Around kilometer 387, he missed a waypoint by just two meters after briefly homing in on a different point he believed was valid, which resulted in a 15‑minute penalty added to his otherwise strong stage time. Despite the setback, his pace on the bike remained competitive all day, and he continued to climb through the field as the stage unfolded.

From the AARR side of the pits, the takeaway from Stage 3 is clear: the speed is there, the roadwork is improving every day, and the team’s energy is fully focused on finishing the rally strong in the final legs toward San Luis RĆo Colorado. Rally raids are built on resilience, and Ryan and the whole All American Rally Raid crew are using every kilometer, wins, penalties and all, to get better.

Day 4 the Sonora Rally 2026:

PUERTO PEƑASCO – PUERTO LIBERTAD
2 HR 16 MIN DRIVE
217 KM

Stage 4 of Sonora Rally 2026 delivered exactly what everyone expected from the La Salina loop: a full day in the dunes where pure navigation and momentum in soft sand decided the order. In Pro Class, Ciaran Naran set the benchmark ahead of Kyle McCoy and Mike Johnson, Ryan Narino charging to a strong 4th on the stage as the rally moves toward its final showdown.

With four legs complete in this five‑day, 1,450 km Road to Dakar challenge, Ryan’s pace and consistency in deep sand underline the progress he and the team have made across Sonora’s beaches, plateaus and dune fields. Dakar‑style racing is at the core of what we do at All American Rally Raid, from bike rentals and race support to coaching and real‑world rally experience.

All American Rally Raid at the 2026 Sonora Rally - A Week to Remember

PUERTO PEƑASCO – PUERTO LIBERTAD
2 HR 16 MIN DRIVE
217 KM

From March 16th to 20th, five grueling stages stretching from Puerto PeƱasco to San Luis Rƭo Colorado, through dunes, open desert, coastal terrain, and the vast Gran Desierto de Altar, tested the limits of every competitor on the field.

Stage 5, the final day, was a demanding push through dunes where mistakes proved costly, with no time left to recover, after days of attrition, heat, and navigation challenges, what remained was pure execution.Ā

We are incredibly proud of our sponsored rider, Ryan NariƱo (#5), who delivered one of the most complete campaigns of his career. Ryan finished fourth overall in the moto category with a total time of 20:48:31. A rock-solid result in an elite field. But the achievement we celebrate most is his first place in the Dakar Dreams category, earning support toward the Dakar Rally through Off-Piste Adventures.

A long-awaited result, and one that places him firmly on the road ahead. We couldn’t be prouder. This is what consistency, preparation, and heart look like.

We also extend our sincere congratulations to all the winners of this edition. In the moto category, Ciaran Naran (#21) secured overall victory with a total time of 18:25:12, followed by Kyle McCoy (#1) at 19:06:21, and Mike Johnson (#8) at 19:11:41, who closed the rally with a Stage 5 win. Eric Pucelik and co-driver Mike Shirley (#206) took the overall with a time of 20:03:53, with Jorge Cano and Abelardo Ruanova (#202) finishing second, and Daniel Gonzalez with Jorge Hernandez (#204) completing the podium.Ā

And a special mention to Jorge Cano and Abelardo Ruanova, who also claimed the Road to Dakar title in the SSV category, a moment that was as earned as it was inevitable.

The Sonora Rally is more than a race. It is a proving ground. And Ryan NariƱo proved exactly what he is made of.

Next stop: Ruta 40. The journey continues.
